Diary - Friday 2nd December 2016

I like to take it easy on a Friday. No chance.

Gill has had a small operation. Pauline rang her to see how she was. She was going stir crazy, so Pauline went to Alrewas and took her to Burton. That was four hours and appeared to be successful.

Meanwhile I went into town. I queued for half an hour to post Jessica's birthday present, then I went to two banks with money for the Lions and the Talking News. On the way back I bought Aberdeen Angus fillet steaks for tonight.

I was going to do more leaf collecting. but I was exhausted, so I had a couple of hours off. Then we did our food shop and I started on tonight's meal, which was one of the best that I have ever done.

I roasted butternut squash and then stuffed the halves with mushrooms, chopped onion and garlic and finally grilled them with a layer of cheddar on top.  The steaks were seared and then baked for fifteen minutes whilst I made a sauce with a beef stock cube, a glass of port and more onion and garlic. This was boiled until quite thick and then I put crumbled stilton on the steaks and covered them with the sauce. I used broccoli for the greens.

I haver to write these things down because I'll forget how to do it again, should the opportunity ever arise.
