Diary - Thursday 1st December 2016

Life could be easier!

I started early (for me) and processed yet another new listener. Then I started to record the Stevenage Talking News. Except my mike wouldn't work, even when I spoke most strongly to it. So I decided to reverse my day. I went to the studio to run off the Welsh and Scottish News. I did Wales, no trouble, but once again I could not find the Scottish news anywhere. The 'save' on the computer suggested Drive E.

Back home I grabbed some lunch and then did the Live at Home run. From there back to the studio, but this time it was to record Stevenage. I finished with enough time left to record Scotland as well. I fetched the ladies back, picked up copies of the Lichfield Mercury, cut that up, had one of Rita's Wiltshire Farm Foods, then it was back to the studio until Keith turned up.

I set tonight's recording up and left Keith on his own whilst I drove up to Hamstall Ridware for what I thought was a meeting of the Ridwares WI. The ladies of the Women's Institute all over South Staffordshire have been very good to the Talking News. I was surprised to find the room full of about 300 people. There was a brass band, a choir of ladies, festive stalls and mulled wine at £2 a bucketful.

There was also a chap from the Abbots Bromley First Responders and we were both presented with cheques for £500. This has been another good week for the TN and tomorrow I will bank £2532.

Back at the studio (I would have loved to see how that village celebrates the start of Christmas) I found a full team of readers, Ben had done the Lichfield returns and Peter arrived to help with the copying. I was home by 9pm.
