Windermere - Cumbria

There are very few lakes in the Lake District. That is to say there are very few stretches of water that are actually called lakes. Windermere is one of them (these days - the locals still think it is a Water). That is appropriate really given that it is the largest natural lake in England, formed some 13,000 years ago when the last ice age cut its way north.

Windermere (and the rest of the Lake District) is beautiful. The largest town is Bowness on Windermere, and the best way to understand and appreciate the beauty is to visit. We will go back later this year and take a video camera.
